  • Defines “plastic firearm” as any firearm containing less than 3.7 ounces of electromagnetically detectable metal that does not generate an accurate image in common security devices (Sec. 1).

  • Classifies a first violation of this section as a Class 1 misdemeanor, and a second or subsequent violation as a Class 4 felony (Sec. 1).

  • Exempts law enforcement agencies, members of the United States Armed Forces, and firearms classified as inoperable or antique from the provisions of this section (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2027 (Sec. 4).
