Title: Amends State Law Regarding Nuclear Energy
Vote to pass a bill that amends state law regarding nuclear energy in Wisconsin.
Requires all new installed capacities of energy generations to be based on renewable energy resources whenever technologically and economically feasible (Sec. 1).
Requires state agencies or local governments to rely as much as possible on energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy if they are technically and economically feasible (Sec. 3).
Specifies the term "renewable resources” includes nuclear energy resources (Sec. 6).
Establishes a $10,000 annual tax credit for the first ten years for claimant nuclear energy facilities (Sec. 9).
Establishes a $9,000 tax credit for the 11th year for claimant nuclear energy facilities with the amount depreciating by $1,000 dollars annually for claimant facilities, with credits concluding in the 19th year (Sec. 9).
Requires facilities claiming the tax credit to be nuclear energy facilities within the state that have produced energy during the tax year (Sec. 9).
Prohibits facilities from claiming the tax incentives past the 19th tax year (Sec. 9).
Requires a state commission to prepare a report by June 1, 2026 stating whether or not 10% of energy consumed in the state is from low-carbon-emission energy and to generate a plan for how this goal will be achieved if not already met (Sec. 26).
