Title: Authorizes Certain Local Officials to Perform Driver's License Renewal and Other Identification Services
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes certain local officials in Kentucky to perform driver's license renewal and other identification services.
Defines “local official,” for the purposes of this section, as a circuit clerk, county clerk, county sheriff, or county judge/executive (Sec. 1).
Requires the Transportation Cabinet to establish a system in which a local official in a county that does not have a regional licensing office may issue renewal and duplicate operator’s licenses and personal identification cards (Sec. 1).
Specifies that local officials may only issue renewal and duplicate licenses and identification cards to residents of their county (Sec. 1).
Authorizes interlocal agreements between counties for the sharing of equipment and personnel for the purpose of issuing renewal and duplicate licenses and identification cards (Sec. 1).
Requires local officials to charge a convenience fee of $25 for each renewal or duplicate license or identification card issued under this section (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2027 (Sec. 7).
