Vote to pass a bill that amends regulations regarding retired teachers' benefits and return-to-work authorizations in Mississippi.

Highlights:

• Authorizes retired teachers to be employed in a public school district after having been retired for at least 45 days (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes local education agencies to pay, from local education funding, all or a portion of the health insurance premiums for retirees returning to work as teachers under this section (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a teacher who has reached both the age and service requirements for retirement to continue as a licensed teacher if they elect to receive compensation at the special rate for retirees, in addition to their retirement allowance (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits a school district from paying a retired teacher who accepts or remains in an instructional position more than 65% of their total compensation as salary (Sec. 4)

• Specifies that this Act takes effect July 1, 2026 (Sec. 5).
