Title: Amends State Congressional Districts
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the general assembly to amend congressional districts outside of sessions immediately following the United States census, and amends the current districts in Indiana.
Authorizes the general assembly to amend congressional districts at a time other than the first regular session following the United States decennial census (Sec. 1).
Establishes the general assembly’s position that actions challenging the apportionment of congressional or general assembly districts can disrupt the orderly conduct of elections, cause confusion and chaos, and undermine voter confidence (Sec. 3).
Requires exclusive jurisdiction by the supreme court over any appeal regarding an order, injunction, or judgment concerning the apportionment of congressional or general assembly districts (Sec. 3).
Amends the existing United States Congressional districts and the state general assembly districts which were established after the 2020 decennial census (Sec. 7).
Authorizes precincts for the 2026 primary and general elections to cross the boundary of a district of the United States House of Representatives (Sec. 8).
Specifies that the new congressional district boundaries established by this Act apply to the primary and general elections of 2026 for members of the 120th Congress, and do not affect the districts of the 119th Congress (Sec. 12).
