Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that repeals restrictions to make it easier for candidates to remove their names from ballots in Wisconsin.

Highlights:

• Specifies that a person who files nomination papers with the commission for an office other than district attorney to be filled at the general election does not qualify to appear on the ballot in the partisan primary or the general election, and that person’s name will not appear on the ballot if the person does all the following (Sec. 1): 

• Files a sworn statement attesting that the person withdraws his or her candidacy;

• Pays a fee of $1,000 to the commission if the person is a candidate for federal or statewide office; and 

• Pays a fee of $250 if the person is a candidate for an office not elected statewide. 

• Specifies that the person must meet these requirements before the June 10th preceding the partisan primary or before the 4th Tuesday in August (Sec. 1).
