Vote to pass a bill that expands the communication disability database in Ohio.

Highlights:

• Amends the definition of “disability,” for the purpose of this Act, to include those previously referred to as “communication disabilities,” including hearing, speech, language, or visual impairments (Sec. 1).

• Expands the list of required information on the verification form for the database of individuals diagnosed with disabilities to include the following (Sec. 1):

• The residential address of the individual diagnosed with a disability or the individual completing the form on their behalf; and

• The telephone number of the individual diagnosed with a disability or the individual completing the form on their behalf.

• Requires the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities agency and the Department of Developmental Disabilities to conduct public outreach about the existence of the database for individuals with disabilities (Sec. 1).

• Requires the Department of Developmental Disabilities to make the database available to law enforcement through each countywide 9-1-1 system to provide information concerning an individual’s disability to local first responders (Sec. 1).
