Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass bill that authorizes natural organic reduction and controlled supervised decomposition of human remains in New Jersey.
Defines natural organic reduction/ controlled supervised decomposition as the contained, accelerated conversion of human remains into soil-like products (Sec. 1).
Defined natural organic reduction facility as a secure structure, room, or other space within a registered mortuary or on a register mortuary property devoid to the process of natural organic reduction of a human body (Sec. 1).
Requires guidelines for which natural organic recreational facilities will be maintained and regulated (Sec. 2).
Requires any organization participating in natural organic reduction to apply and obtain a certificate of registration for each mortuary (Sec. 3).
Specifies the annual registration fee to be $25 (Sec. 3).
Specifies that a certificate of registration will only be given after the Department of Environmental Protection inspects the facility (Sec. 4).
Requires facilities to be under direct supervision of a mortuary science practitioner (Sec. 4).
