Title: Expands Protections for Bicyclists on Roadways
Vote to pass a bill that expands protections for vulnerable roadway users, including bicyclists, and operators of farm equipment on roadways in Michigan by classifying felonies for moving violations that cause serious injury or death.
Classifies a moving violation causing serious injury to a vulnerable roadway user or operator of an implement of husbandry as a Class E felony (Sec. 12e).
Classifies a moving violation causing death to a vulnerable roadway user as a Class D felony (Sec. 12e).
Classifies a moving violation causing death to an operator of an implement of husbandry as a Class C felony (Sec. 12e).
Specifies that this Act takes effect 90 days after passage (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act does not take effect unless SB 216 of the 103rd Legislature is enacted into law (Sec. 2).
