Title: Prohibits Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in State Agencies
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in state agencies in Louisiana.
Requires all public postsecondary management boards to adopt a plan to ensure that each institution does not require DEI-related instructional content in undergraduate academic degree programs (Sec. 1).
Exempts majors, minors, certificates, or departments whose title clearly establishes its course of study as primarily focused on racial, ethnic, or gender studies (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Section does not prohibit any individual faculty member from including instruction or instructional materials related to diversity, equity, or inclusion-related topics (Sec. 1).
Prohibits state agencies, departments, public postsecondary institutions, and offices from the following (Sec. 2):
Having any initiative, training, or office related to DEI;
Employing, contracting, engaging, or hiring an individual to perform functions related to DEI;
Requiring or soliciting an applicant, employee, or student to provide a written or oral statement regarding DEI;
Extending any preferential treatment based on race, color, ethnicity, sex, national origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation in making admissions or financial-aid decisions at a public postsecondary education institution; and
Giving differential or preferential treatment to an applicant, employee, or student based on views or actions related to DEI.
Specifies that this Section shall be construed to conflict with or prohibit compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Sec. 2).
