Title: Repeals the Requirement for Parking Spaces for New Developments
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that repeals the requirement for parking spaces for new developments in Washington.
Amends and modifies provisions related to certain minimum parking requirements for new developments in Washington (Sec. 1).
Establishes the Parking Reform and Modernization Act (Sec. 7).
Prohibits cities from requiring more than 0.5 parking spaces per multifamily unit or more than one parking space per single-family home (Sec. 2).
Prohibits cities from requiring more than two parking spaces per 1,000 square feet of commercial space (Sec. 2).
Prohibits cities or counties from requiring parking for any of the following (Sec. 2):
Residences under 1,200 square feet;
Commercial spaces under 3,000 square feet;
Senior housing;
Child care facilities;
Affordable housing.
Specifies that cities with a population between 30,000 and 50,000 shall implement the provisions of this bill within 3 years of the effective date, while cities with a population of 50,000 or more shall implement the provisions within 18 months (Sec. 2).
