Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires public school districts establish policies that prohibit Delta-8 and Delta-9 products on school grounds in North Carolina, effective beginning the 2025-2026 school year.

Highlights:

• Prohibits tobacco and hemp-derived consumable product use in school buildings, grounds, and at-school sponsored events in North Carolina (Sec. 1). 

• Requires governing bodies of public schools to adopt a written policy prohibiting the use of tobacco products and hemp-derived consumable products by the public school unit, with at least all of the following elements (Sec. 1):

• Adequate notice to students, parents, the public, and school personnel of the police;

• Posting of signs prohibiting the use of tobacco products and hemp-derived consumable products on school property; and

• Requirements that school personnel enforce the policy.
