Title: Prohibit Schools from Using a Name, Logo, or Mascot that is Derogatory or Representative of a Disabled Individual or Group
Vote to pass a bill that prohibit schools from using a name, logo, or mascot that is derogatory or representative of a disabled individual or group in Illinois.
Prohibits K-12 public schools and institutions of higher education from using a name, logo, or mascot that is derogatory or representative of a disabled individual or group in Illinois (Sec. 10).
Defines “Discriminatory disability mascot” means any name, logo, or mascot that is derogatory or representative of an individual or group based on disability, as defined by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (Sec. 10).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 15).
