Title: Requires Hands-Free Cellphone Use While Driving
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires hands-free cellphone use while driving in South Carolina.
Requires hands-free cellphone use while driving in South Carolina (Sec. 1-7).
Authorizes phones to still be used remotely through the following, including (Sec. 1-7):
Via Bluetooth device;
In a cradle holder; or
In a cupholder.
Specifies that the first offense would be a $100 fine and any subsequent offense after that would trigger a $200 fine (Sec. 1-7).
Exempts these fines from being enforced for the first 6 months after the passage of this bill and specifies law enforcement may only issue written warnings (Sec. 1-7).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect one year following passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 8).
