Vote to pass a bill that prohibits county boards of supervisors and city councils from placing additional restrictions on the use of fireworks on July 3rd, 4th, and December 31st outside of existing restrictions in Iowa.

Highlights:

• Prohibits county boards of supervisors and city councils from placing restrictions on the use of consumer fireworks or display fireworks on July 3, July 4, and December 31 in Iowa (Sec. 1). 

• Authorizes county boards of supervisors and city councils to prohibit or limit the use of fireworks on any other date if they determine that the use of fireworks poses a threat to public safety or private property (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies a violation of these provisions as a simple misdemeanor (Sec. 2).
