Title: Prohibits Unauthorized Immigrants From Accessing Publicly Funded Assistance
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits unauthorized immigrants from accessing publicly funded assistance in Idaho, effective July 1, 2025.
Prohibits unauthorized immigrants from accessing publicly funded assistance in Idaho (Sec. 1-2).
Specifies that to receive public assistance in Idaho, state agencies are required to verify the lawful presence of adults applying for benefits (Sec. 1-2).
Establishes exceptions for certain services, including emergency health care, immunization, communicable disease testing and treatment, prenatal and postnatal care, and food assistance for dependent children (Sec. 1-2).
Repeals and removes some of those exceptions, requiring state agencies to verify an individual’s immigration status for access to health assistance for immunizations, communicable disease testing and treatment, prenatal and postnatal care, and food assistance for dependent children (Sec. 1-2).
Specifies that emergency services would still be exempt from the immigration status verification requirement (Sec. 1-2).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill declare an emergency and shall take effect beginning July 1, 2025 (Sec. 3).
