Title: Establishes the Idaho Medical Freedom Act
Signed by Governor Brad Little
Title: Establishes the Idaho Medical Freedom Act
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that amends existing law to establish the Idaho Medical Freedom Act, allowing school boards to prohibit sick students from attending school and specifying parental rights in Idaho, effective July 1, 2025.
Prohibits businesses, governments, and schools from requiring medical interventions for employment, admission to venues, transportation, or providing products or services in Idaho (Sec. 1-4).
Extends these provisions to schools in Idaho including private or public schools and colleges, universities, and trade schools to prohibit them from requiring medical interventions for school attendance, employment, or entrance into campus or school buildings (Sec. 1-4).
Defines “medical interventions” to include a procedure, treatment, device, drug injection, medication, or action taken to diagnose, prevent, or cure a disease or alter the health or biological function of an individual (Sec. 1-4).
Establishes language specifying that the bill wouldn’t overrule existing powers of school districts, or school board trustees as already granted in state law (Sec. 1-4).
Exempts daycares and adds language specifying the school medical mandate ban provision is subject to various other Idaho laws that let school boards block sick students from attending and define parental rights (Sec. 1-4).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill declare an emergency and shall take effect beginning July 1, 2025 (Sec. 5).
