Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals with an enhanced concealed-carry permit, or a reciprocal permit from another state, to carry concealed pistols on state university and technical college campuses in South Dakota.

Highlights:

• Authorizes individuals with an enhanced permit, a restricted enhanced permit, or a reciprocal permit to carry a concealed pistol on state university and technical college campuses in South Dakota (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that an institution may limit the lawful carrying of a firearm, under the provisions of this bill, in any of the following areas (Sec. 2):

• Buildings where certain flammable or hazardous materials are present;

• Rooms being used for manufacturing or scientific research, if the concentration of airborne particles is controlled to maintain minimal pollutants;

• Portions of buildings in which facility security clearance applies; or

• Buildings are being used for special events in which metal detectors and armed security personnel are present at every public entrance.
