Title: Authorizes Concealed Carry Permit Holders to Carry on State University and Technical College Campuses
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals with an enhanced concealed-carry permit, or a reciprocal permit from another state, to carry concealed pistols on state university and technical college campuses in South Dakota.
Authorizes individuals with an enhanced permit, a restricted enhanced permit, or a reciprocal permit to carry a concealed pistol on state university and technical college campuses in South Dakota (Sec. 1).
Specifies that an institution may limit the lawful carrying of a firearm, under the provisions of this bill, in any of the following areas (Sec. 2):
Buildings where certain flammable or hazardous materials are present;
Rooms being used for manufacturing or scientific research, if the concentration of airborne particles is controlled to maintain minimal pollutants;
Portions of buildings in which facility security clearance applies; or
Buildings are being used for special events in which metal detectors and armed security personnel are present at every public entrance.
Requires individuals to properly store and lock firearms and ammunition when they are not being carried (Sec. 4).
