Title: Appropriates Funding for Various State Spending Plans
Vote to adopt a conference report vote appropriates funding to fully fund public schools, provide pay raises for state employees, repeal DEI initiatives, and pronoun policies in Kansas.
Appropriates $27.08 billion in state funding for the following, including $10.85 billion from the State General Fund and $10.64 billion for the following year (Sec. 1-28):
To fully fund public schools;
provide pay raises for state employees;
Repeal DEI initiatives, and email pronoun policies in Kansas.
Repeals funding for training and other items not required under the school finance legal settlement (Sec. 1-28).
Appropriates $10 million in new funding for special education services (Sec. 1-28).
Appropriates $106.3 million for state employees for a 2.5% wage increase (Sec. 1-28):
Appropriates millions in various state funding for the following (Sec. 1-28):
$5.8 million for a top-secret military weapons project in Wichita, Kansas;
$24.9 million for a new Kansas Highway Patrol dispatch center in Salina, Kansas;
$19.3 million to complete renovation of the Docking Building
$10 million for firearm detection software in public schools;
$179 million for local bridge construction;
$71.2 million for a Wichita Biomedical Campus;
$41.3 million for an Ag Innovation Initiative at Kansas State University, and
$30 million for a Health Science Education Center at Wichita State University.
Authorizes the state to take on $128 million in debt for a veterinary diagnostic laboratory in Manhattan and $80 million in debt for a new Kansas Bureau of Investigation headquarters in downtown Topeka, Kansas (Sec. 1-28).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall effect immediately upon its passage and publication in the Kansas register (Sec. 29).
