Vote to pass a bill that authorizes concealed carry of handguns for state judges in Oklahoma, effective November 1, 2025.

Highlights:

• Amends and modifies the scope of individuals in which lawful carry applies in Oklahoma to include state judges (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits any person, including an individual in possession of a valid handgun license, to carry firearms into specified locations, including, but not limited to government buildings, schools, sports venues, and recreational areas (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall not apply to the following individuals (Sec. 1):

• Peace officers;

• Individuals authorized by law to carry a firearm for their job;

• District judges, associate district judges, special district judges, Judges of the Court of Civil Appeals, Judges of the Court of Criminal Appeals, or Justices of the Supreme Court;

• Private investigators;

• Elected officials of a county;

• Certain employees of the sheriff of a county; and

• Certain employees of a county as determined by the Board of County Commissioners.

• Specifies that the amendment about state judges requires the following to be true (Sec. 1):

• The individual has a valid handgun license issued under the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act; and

• The individual’s name appears on a list maintained by the Administrative Director of the Courts.

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect November 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
