Increases the punishment for committing an assault with firearms against certain emergency, medical, and law enforcement personnel. Violators would be guilty of a Class D felony, which has a maximum penalty of 5 to 10 years in prison (Sec. 1-17).
Specifies that an individual who discharges a firearm during the commission or attempted commission of a felony becomes guilty of a Class C felony and a maximum penalty of 10 to 25 years in prison (Sec. 1-17).
