Title: Requires 80% of Students Admitted to the University of Iowa's Medical and Dentistry Colleges to be Iowa Residents
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires at least 80% of students admitted to the University of Iowa's medical and dentistry colleges to be Iowa residents or individuals enrolled at Iowa colleges.
Requires that at least 80% of students admitted to the University of Iowa's medical and dentistry colleges be Iowa residents or individuals enrolled at Iowa colleges (Sec. 1-3).
Requires giving priority for some medical residencies and fellowships to Iowa residents and people who received post-secondary education in Iowa (Sec. 1-3).
Requires that residents in high-need fields like family practice, internal medicine, OB-GYN, and psychiatry are allowed to participate in a rural rotation “to expose the resident or fellow to rural areas of the state.” (Sec. 1-3).
Requires the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) program to offer interviews for medical residencies in high-need fields to people with Iowa connections.
Requires the UIHC program to submit a report to the governor and the general assembly annually by January 15 of each year (Sec. 4).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 4).
