Vote to pass a bill that amends and improves school safety and threat management responses in Georgia.

Amend Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A., relating to elementary and secondary education, to provide for the safety, health, and well-being of students and school communities (Sec. 1-24).
Establishes an Office of Safe Schools within the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (Sec. 1-24).
Authorizes technical assistance for local school systems to develop policies and procedures for their threat management team and develop a state-wide behavioral threat management operational process (Sec. 1-24).
Amends Code Section 16-11-37 of the O.C.G.A., relating to terroristic threats and acts and penalties, to provide for the offense of threatening the death of or serious injury to individuals who are or likely to be at school (Sec. 1-24).
Amends Article 4 of Chapter 18 of Title 50 of the O.C.G.A., relating to inspection of public records, to provide for an exemption (Sec. 1-24).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or after the final adjournment date of the current legislative session and any previous legislation found in conflict shall be repealed (Sec. 25-26).
