Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires individuals delivering ammunition to confirm the age of purchasers in Colorado.

Highlights:

• Defines ammunition to include (Sec. 1):

• Ammunition or cartridge case;

• Primer;

• Bullet; or

• Propellant powder.

• Specifies that the following are not considered ammunition under this bill (Sec. 1):

• Shotgun shot or pellet not used as a complete projectile; or

• An unloaded, nonmetallic shotgun hull or casing.

• Prohibits retail ammunition vendors from the sale or transfer of ammunition in a manner that does not require the assistance of vendors to obtain the ammunition from the vendor’s storage (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits the sale of ammunition to individuals under 21 years of age (Sec. 2).

• Requires ammunition vendors to verify the age of ammunition purchasers to be at least 21 years old with a valid copy of government-issued photo identification (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that violations of the provisions regarding age in this bill by ammunition vendors are Class 1 misdemeanors(Sec. 2). 

• Requires retail ammunition vendors delivering ammunition packages to provide the  retail deliverers (Sec. 2):

• A written notice that the package contains ammunition; and

• A package that is not labeled, tagged, or marked on the outside to indicate that the package contains ammunition.

• Specifies that violations of the provisions regarding ammunition packaging in this bill are Class 1 misdemeanors (Sec. 2).
