Title: Authorizes Firearm Hold Agreements
Vote to amend and pass a bill that authorizes firearm holding agreements for veterans seeking mental health treatment at facilities.
Authorizes private agreements between federal firearm licensees or municipal or county law enforcement officers and individual firearm owners, wherein (Sec. 1):
The individual firearm owner takes physical possession of the original owner’s firearms by request;
The individual holds the firearm for an agreed period of time; and
The individual returns the firearm to the owner.
Prohibits private cause of action against any federal firearm licensee or law enforcement officer for returning a firearm to its owner at the termination of a firearm hold agreement (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the immunity from civil liability is waived, if the action by a law enforcement officer or federal firearm licensee from the firearm hold agreement is unlawful (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the effective date of this bill is June 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
