Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits certain ultra-processed foods and dyes from being offered for public school meals in Arizona.

Highlights:

• Prohibits any school that participates in a federally funded or assisted meal program to serve, sell, or allow a third party to sell ultraprocessed food on the school campus during the normal school day. (Sect.1)

• Specifies that this does not prevent a student's parent or guardian from providing ultraprocessed foods. (Sect.1)

• Requires the Department of Education to post on its website the following (Sec. 1):

• A standardized form which a public school may use to certify that it complies with the requirements; and

• A list showing  “ultraprocessed food” to mean any food or beverage which contains one or more of the following ingredients:

• POTASSIUM BROMATE;

• PROPYLPARABEN;

• TITANIUM DIOXIDE;

• BROMINATED VEGETABLE OIL;

• YELLOW DYE 5;

• YELLOW DYE 6;

• BLUE DYE 1;

• BLUE DYE 2;

• GREEN DYE 3;

• RED DYE 3;

• RED DYE 40.
