Title: Prohibits Certain Ultra-Processed Foods and Dyes from Public School Meals
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits certain ultra-processed foods and dyes from being offered for public school meals in Arizona.
Prohibits any school that participates in a federally funded or assisted meal program to serve, sell, or allow a third party to sell ultraprocessed food on the school campus during the normal school day. (Sect.1)
Specifies that this does not prevent a student's parent or guardian from providing ultraprocessed foods. (Sect.1)
Requires the Department of Education to post on its website the following (Sec. 1):
A standardized form which a public school may use to certify that it complies with the requirements; and
A list showing “ultraprocessed food” to mean any food or beverage which contains one or more of the following ingredients:
POTASSIUM BROMATE;
PROPYLPARABEN;
TITANIUM DIOXIDE;
BROMINATED VEGETABLE OIL;
YELLOW DYE 5;
YELLOW DYE 6;
BLUE DYE 1;
BLUE DYE 2;
GREEN DYE 3;
RED DYE 3;
RED DYE 40.
