Vote to pass a bill that requires cursive instruction to be taught in state school curriculum in Wisconsin.

Highlights:

• Requires the state superintendent of public instruction to incorporate cursive writing into the model academic standards for English language arts (Sec. 1-6). 

• Requires all school boards, independent charter schools, and private schools participating in a parental choice program to include cursive writing in their curriculum for elementary grades (Sec. 1-6).

• Specifies each elementary school curriculum must include the objective that pupils can write legibly in cursive by the end of fifth grade (Sec. 1-6).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately beginning in the 2026-2027 school year (Sec. 7).
