Title: Requires Cursive Instruction be Taught in State School Curriculum
Vote to pass a bill that requires cursive instruction to be taught in state school curriculum in Wisconsin.
Requires the state superintendent of public instruction to incorporate cursive writing into the model academic standards for English language arts (Sec. 1-6).
Requires all school boards, independent charter schools, and private schools participating in a parental choice program to include cursive writing in their curriculum for elementary grades (Sec. 1-6).
Specifies each elementary school curriculum must include the objective that pupils can write legibly in cursive by the end of fifth grade (Sec. 1-6).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately beginning in the 2026-2027 school year (Sec. 7).
