Title: Reduces Driving Privileges for Student Licenses from 50 to 25 Miles
Vote to adopt a conference report and pass a bill that reduces the allowable driving distance for licensees under 16 from 50 miles from home to only 25 miles in Iowa.
Authorizes minor ages 14 with restricted licenses to drive up to 25 miles from their homes to school, extracurricular activities, and work (Sec. 1).
Authorizes certain licensees to drive more than 25 miles if they attend a public school and live within the public school district (Sec. 1).
Requires applicants to hold an instruction permit for six months before being eligible for the special minor’s restricted license (Sec. 1).
