Title: Establishes the Ohio Childhood Safety Act
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Ohio Childhood Safety Act to require school buildings comply with national life safety standards.
Requires all doors with panic hardware or fire exit hardware used by schools to be inspected and tested every year (Sec. 1).
Requires schools to repair all doors that do not pass inspection (Sec. 1).
Requires inspectors to create a record of inspections and schools to hold a record of inspections (Sec. 1).
Requires penalties of up to $1000 per door for schools that do not pass inspection and do not attempt to repair the failing doors (Sec. 1).
Specifies that temporary door locks in compliance with building standards is not in violation of this bill (Sec. 1).
