Title: Expands Employment and Training Requirements Necessary for SNAP Benefits
Vote to pass a bill that expands employment and training requirements necessary for SNAP and EBT benefits in West Virginia.
Expands employment and training requirements necessary for SNAP and EBT benefits for individuals aged 18-59 in West Virginia (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
Amends previously established requirements for optional work and job safety training to become mandatory in order for individuals and families to receive SNAP or EBT benefits from the state (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
Specifies that no provision of this bill shall prohibit the Department of Human Services from expanding a mandatory SNAP or EBT program policy (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
Authorizes the Department of Human Services to make available to each work registrant a comprehensive list of all SNAP employment and training services available in the registrant’s county, or requested surrounding counties, to adults participating in a mandatory or a voluntary program within 15 working days of registration (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
Specifies that if the Secretary of the Department of Human Services determines that there is not an appropriate and available SNAP component due to a lack of funding for a mandatory participant, the individual will be exempt from mandatory SNAP participation requirements (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Article 8, Sec. 9-8-2a).
