Title: Expands Medicaid Coverage of Birth Expenses
Vote to pass a bill that expands Medicaid coverage of birth expenses by eliminating a clause that denies coverage under certain circumstances in Michigan.
Expands Medicaid coverage of birth expenses to include any funeral expenses or other costs associated with pregnancy or the birth of a child by eliminating a clause that denies coverage under certain circumstances in Michigan (Sec. 2).
Defines “Medicaid” as the medical assistance program administered by this state under section 105 of the Social Welfare Act (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill do not prohibit the Department of Community Health from seeking reimbursement of expenses from a party or other person, including an insurer, by a legal procedure other than an action under this act.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
