Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires that individuals have easy access to menstrual products whiles incarcerated in California.

Highlights:

• Requires incarcerated persons who menstruate to have access to materials necessary for personal hygiene, such as pads and tampons, without needing to request them and with no cost to them (Sec. 1)

• Requires incarcerated persons who may become pregnant access to contraceptive counseling and their choice of birth control upon request (Sec. 1)

• Requires the California Correctional Health Care Services to establish a formulary of all FDA-approved birth control methods and those that should be available to incarcerated persons (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that any contraceptive service that requires a prescription shall be furnished by a licensed healthcare provider who has training in reproductive healthcare (Sec. 1).

• Requires any incarcerated person who may become pregnant to be given information and education about the availability of family planning services and their right to receive counseling and services (Sec. 1).

• Requires contraceptive counseling and family planning services to be offered to eligible incarcerated persons at least 60 days, but no more than 180 days, before their scheduled release date (Sec. 1).
