Title: Establishes the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Program to Give Communities Funding to Decrease Levels of Violence
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Program to give communities funding to decrease the levels of violence in schools and communities and provide trauma interventions for youth
Specifies that eligible community programs include the following (Sec. 1):
Deterrence Collaborative Programs that do outreach to different gangs and offer supportive services;
Health based interventions and recreation programs; and
Youth Diversion Programs.
Establishes school based health centers to address interventions and treatments for trauma for kids in low income communities or are unable to access such services (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the health centers can address treatments related to severe trauma symptoms and post traumatic stress disorder (Sec. 1).
Establishes the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Fund within the state treasury of California (Sec. 1).
Requires each fiscal year following July 31, 2025 to calculate savings from prison closures to the state (Sec. 1).
