Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Program to give communities funding to decrease the levels of violence in schools and communities and provide trauma interventions for youth

Highlights:

• Specifies that eligible community programs include the following (Sec. 1):

• Deterrence Collaborative Programs that do outreach to different gangs and offer supportive services;

• Health based interventions and recreation programs; and

• Youth Diversion Programs.

• Establishes school based health centers to address interventions and treatments for trauma for kids in low income communities or are unable to access such services (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the health centers can address treatments related to severe trauma symptoms and post traumatic stress disorder (Sec. 1).

• Establishes the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Fund within the state treasury of California (Sec. 1).

• Requires each fiscal year following July 31, 2025 to calculate savings from prison closures to the state (Sec. 1).
