Title: Repeals Statutes Concerning Involuntary Commitment to a Mental Facility
Vote to pass a bill that repeals statutes concerning involuntary commitment to a mental facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Repeals the statutes that authorized a court to order an individual to stay in a facility against their will on the basis of having an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) (Sec. 1).
Repeals several laws in ORS Chapter 427 which concern the conduct of people with an IDD from a court (Sec. 1).
Prohibits a public body from denying services for mental illness if the individual also has an IDD (Sec. 2).
Establishes an effective date of July 1, 2025 (Sec. 29).
