Vote to adopt an amendment that protects information submitted by immigrants seeking citizenship for any reason other than the application process.
Highlights:
Bars any Federal agency or bureau from publishing information to the extent that the identity of the applicant is revealed.
Prohibits any Federal agency or bureau from granting access to filed applications unless the individuals are sworn officers or employees of that agency or bureau.
Allows for the release of applicant information to law enforcement officials in regards to a criminal or national security investigation or to a coroner for identifying an individual.
Establishes a penalty of up to $10,000 for anyone who knowingly exploits the application information.
