Vote to pass a bill that amends standards for sex education.

Highlights:

• Amends public school sex education curriculum by making the following changes to terminology (Sec. 1):

• Replaces “sexual intercourse” with “sex”;

• Replaces “unwanted pregnancy” with “unintended pregnancy”;

• Replaces “sexually transmitted diseases” with “sexually transmitted infections”;

• Replaces “Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)” with “Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)”;

• Replaces “self control and ethical conduct” with “delaying sexual activity and discouraging risky sexual behavior”;

• Requires that course materials and instruction relating to sexual health education and sexually transmitted infections be medically accurate and culturally appropriate (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the reccomendation for sexual education to emphasize in a factual manner that homosexuality is socially and legally offensive (Sec. 1).
