Vote on a motion to declare a bill inexpedient to legislate that increases the minimum wage.
Highlights:
Increases the minimum hourly wage by the following amounts (Secs. 1-2):
From $7.25 to $8.25 beginning January 1, 2015; and
From $8.25 to $9.00 beginning January 1, 2016.
Requires the Commissioner of Labor to adjust the minimum hourly wage based upon the cost of living increase, calculated using the Consumer Price Index or any successor index published by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, beginning September 2016 and continuing annually (Sec. 2).
Requires the Commissioner to round the adjusted minimum hourly rate to the nearest multiple of 5 cents and announce the new rate by the first of October each year, to take effect on the first of January of the following year (Sec. 2).
